Strawberry Patch is closed today - sorry

That's a wrap on strawberry picking season for 2017/18!

We wish that our delicious strawberries were always in season, but our favourite time of year has just come to an end. As the wintery weather rolls through Hahndorf it is now slim pickings in the patch.

This picking season has been so much fun and we can’t believe that we’ve had over 80,000 visitors since the start of the season and we’ve enjoyed nothing more than to watch them pluck and devour the juiciest berries they can get their hands on!

Our family opened pick-your-own strawberries on our farm in 1975 and we haven’t missed a season since. This season alone, 48 tonnes of our famous Beerenberg strawberries were lovingly hand-picked.

After a major success during the 2016/17 strawberry season, we decided to run our Pick Me Beerenberg competition again, asking visitors to post a picture of themselves in our strawberry patch and tag us on social media. Each week we had the pleasure of choosing our favourite photo and announcing the lovely winners of our weekly Beerenberg prize; since the beginning of the 2017/18 season, we’ve announced 25 photogenic winners.

The results were absolutely amazing, as always––the #pickmebeerenberg hashtag was inundated with priceless snaps of gorgeous kids with sticky red chins and serious strawberry enthusiasts from near and far. We’ve put together an album containing all of this season’s Pick Me winners, which you can find here.

Though our strawberry patch will be less lively in the coming months, there’s still plenty of action going on at the farm, as our huge range of delicious jams, sauces and condiments are in still production. Some of our products are the perfect way to make simple, warming dishes come to life; have you tried this African Beef and Potato Curry, Hungarian Beef Goulash, or these mouth-watering winter favourites.

The countdown is on until later this year (November 2018), when we see you all picking our strawberries in the sunshine again. Until then, stay warm!

Keep up to date with what's happening in the strawberry patches here.
